The Green Bay Packers host the New England Patriots on Saturday evening in their second preseason game. And it's an important one for several players on the roster.

GM Brian Gutekunst will trim the roster down to 53 players at the end of the month. The preseason gives players on the roster bubble a chance to prove themselves against another NFL opponent.

Emanuel Wilson and Carrington Valentine were among the standout performers in the preseason opener. Their stock is soaring.

Which three players will be desperate to make an impact in Saturday night's contest against the Patriots?

3. Royce Newman

It's a make-or-break game for offensive lineman Royce Newman. Once a starter for the Packers, Newman now faces the ever-increasing possibility of missing the 53-man roster.

A poor start to training camp was backed up by a nightmare performance against the Cincinnati Bengals. Newman hasn't done anything to turn things around this week, struggling against the Patriots in joint practices.

Newman's chances of making the 53-man roster are decreasing, and he desperately needs a bounce-back performance. If he struggles against the Patriots, he may not even get the chance to turn things around in the final preseason game next week.

He needs to put in a strong performance in this game.
