Packers got it wrong: Cornerback (for now)

It helps to have a tremendous amount of talent in the pass rush department to make the job of the defensive backs easier, but for now, the Packers seem to have gotten it wrong at the CB position. The Packers currently have four healthy cornerbacks with Eric Stokes on the PUP and one of them is rookie Carrington Valentine.

This team will be scouring the waiver wire and free agency for help at this position, which is obviously not an ideal spot to be in. The Packers still have Jaire Alexander, Rasul Douglas, and Keisean Nixon as guys with experience, but this area is going to need to be addressed.

Packers got it right: Keeping three undrafted rookies

It's always a great nod to the scouting department when you're a talented roster and you still manage to keep three undrafted rookies on the final 53. The Packers landed Malik Heath as an undrafted free agent and he wound up cracking the roster after a great preseason. Defensively, they got Brenton Cox Jr. added into a deep pass rush fold.

Rounding out the trio is a major surprise player -- Emanuel Wilson. Wilson was originally signed by the Denver Broncos as an undrafted player this offseason, but didn't make it out of OTAs and the Packers scooped him up.

He did the rest.

Wilson is opening up as the Packers' RB3, which means he could legitimately have a role early on in the regular season. Time will tell. Ultimately, though, the Packers were able to keep these three undrafted gems as rookies and it's because these guys made it painfully obvious that they couldn't be cut.

And that's what you love if you're a GM in this league.

The Packers may not have a perfect roster, but nobody does. They didn't get everything right, but they seem to have gotten most of it right and they look good heading into Week 1 of the 2023 season.
