3 bold predictions for the Packers in Week 3 against the Titans
After the Green Bay Packers dropped a disappointing Week 1 opener in Brazil in which Jordan Love suffered a sprained MCL, the tides have turned significantly after Week 2. Not only did the Packers get a win with Jordan Love on the sideline, but the defense took a major step forward, and Matt LaFleur's team has a chance to improve to 2-1 with a second consecutive win against an AFC South opponent.
The Tennessee Titans have had their share of struggles so far this season, but they're not an opponent to be taken lightly (obviously).
But let's say things do go overwhelmingly well for the Packers again this week. What kinds of things could we end up seeing from this team that would keep their momentum going and the optimism flowing among the fan base?
Here are our three bold predictions for the Packers in their Week 3 matchup against the Titans.
Jayden Reed, Rashan Gary highlight Packers bold predictions for Week 3
1. Jayden Reed scores three total touchdowns
Through the first two games of the 2024 season, the Packers' offense has flowed primarily through running back Josh Jacobs, who has a whopping 50 touches in the first two games. The next closest on the team is backup running back Emanuel Wilson with 11.
The Packers want to feed Jacobs the ball, and rightfully so, but the chemistry between Jordan Love (who will hopefully play this week) and wide receiver Jayden Reed is undeniable. Reed has six receptions on eight targets so far this season, and nine total touches for a whopping 217 yards from scrimmage. At 24.1 yards per touch, Reed leads the team by far.
So, how about turning all of those big plays into more touchdowns? I don't think any Packers fan would complain. My first big, bold prediction for this game against the Titans is that Reed breaks loose for three total touchdowns. Maybe he has two receiving and one rushing, maybe he takes a punt back for a touchdown -- however the Packers get the ball into his hands, I'm saying he turns in a hat-trick.
2. Rashan Gary racks up three sacks, two forced fumbles
Rashan Gary and the Packers' pass rushers should be absolutely salivating this week against the Titans.
Titans offensive tackle Nicholas Petit-Frere has been arguably the single worst pass-protecting offensive tackle in the entire league through the first two weeks of the season:
This is horrible news for Titans quarterback Will Levis, who is going up against a defense that has already been one of the best in the league in terms of forcing turnovers this season. And a veteran pass rusher like Gary is going to feast on incompetence.
It could be a long day for Petit-Frere.
3. Packers offensive line pitches another shutout
One of the most surprising developments for the Packers in Week 2 against the Indianapolis Colts was not even just the fact that Malik Willis played so well in the absence of Jordan Love, but that Willis was not sacked a single time.
Now, running the ball well helps in that regard, but the Packers will have even more reason to be motivated to protect the quarterback if Love can play in this game against the Titans.
And I'm saying they pitch another shutout. I think we'll see no sacks allowed for the Packers' offensive line against the Titans. That will be an incredibly tough task two weeks in a row, but it can happen.
