It's not difficult to see the Green Bay Packers as contenders in the NFC in the 2024 NFL season. It's even easier to see it if general manager Brian Gutekunst can find it in him to make some big-time trades. Gutekunst is in a pretty enviable position compared to most NFL general managers. He's going to have to focus first on extending his franchise quarterback, but after that?

Anything could be on the table.

The Packers have assembled a very talented roster on both sides of the ball through the NFL Draft. This roster is young, loaded, and in a position to add premier veteran talent using prime draft real estate if the right deal comes along.

What types of trades could make sense from Green Bay's perspective at this juncture? Let's look at three that could vault this team to contender status.

Packers should consider making a bold trade before Week 1

1. Christian Watson and a pick for Tee Higgins

Another Tee Higgins trade idea...? Another Tee Higgins trade idea. The Green Bay Packers have seen some good from Christian Watson over the last two years, but there are a few reasons it might not be a bad idea to trade him if you can get this kind of value in return.

Watson has struggled to stay on the field consistently due to injuries. He's only four months younger than Tee Higgins despite being in the league two fewer seasons. Then there's the matter of contract. If Watson pops off this season, the market value for his position is going to be substantially different a year or two from now. The Packers could get Higgins for current market value and have a more established player at the position, who is roughly the same age.

There's also the chance Watson doesn't develop into a second contract player, and the Packers would have missed a chance to get a true WR1 for Jordan Love.

2. Christian Watson and a pick for Brandon Aiyuk or Deebo Samuel

The same logic for the Packers applies to players like Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel as it does with Tee Higgins. Although in the case of Deebo Samuel, you're getting a bit older of a player and maybe a little more risk in the injury department. If the 49ers were willing to part with either of these guys, though, and Kyle Shanahan was willing to deal with his old pal Matt LaFleur, this could work out great for Green Bay.

Each of these players are legitimate game changers at the receiver position. Adding them as the focal point of the passing attack could take the Packers' offense to the next level.

3. Trade for CB Marshon Lattimore

Realistically speaking, this may be the most likely trade the Packers could make for the remainder of the 2024 offseason. There have been rumblings the Saints could be willing to deal Marshon Lattimore if the price is right, and the Packers did next to nothing to add to the cornerback position in the 2024 offseason.

That was the one area of the roster from last year that needed to be addressed significantly and it wasn't. Perhaps it's not too late. Getting a player like Lattimore to play opposite Jaire Alexander could absolutely set this Green Bay secondary off in 2024.
