Dream Green Bay Packers starting lineup for the 2024 season
The Green Bay Packers have a chance to go from surprise playoff participants to serious Super Bowl contenders in 2024.
With the right arm of Jordan Love, a talented, young offense, and an infusion of talent on defense, the Packers can level up and rival the San Francisco 49ers for the NFC crown. General manager Brian Gutekunst made a perfect start by signing Josh Jacobs and Xavier McKinney in free agency, but more work is required.
How can the Packers improve their starting lineup between now and September? Talented veterans remain available in free agency, and Green Bay enters April's draft with 11 picks at its disposal.
We've put together a dream lineup for the Packers in 2024. There is one rule: It has to be realistic. The Packers aren't going to draft Marvin Harrison Jr. and Malik Nabers and sign every top free agent. It's also worth noting that not every rookie will start. The Packers could draft multiple offensive tackles, but they are unlikely to unseat Rasheed Walker or Zach Tom immediately.
What could a dream Packers lineup look like in 2024?
Packers dream starting lineup on offense
- QB Jordan Love
- RB Josh Jacobs
- WR Christian Watson
- WR Romeo Doubs
- WR Jayden Reed
- TE Luke Musgrave
- LT Rasheed Walker
- LG Elgton Jenkins
- C Josh Myers
- RG Zak Zinter
- RT Zach Tom
The Packers will likely add multiple offensive linemen via the draft, but the opening in the starting lineup is at right guard. Michigan's Zak Zinter is a potential Day 3 target and could be an immediate starter in Green Bay. Per The Draft Network's Ryan Fowler, the Packers scheduled a Top 30 pre-draft visit with Zinter.
The starting lineup is hardly the be-all and end-all. Green Bay has so many other key contributors, including Dontayvion Wicks and Tucker Kraft, and they could add a rookie running back to pair with Josh Jacobs.
Strengthening the offensive line depth is a priority, including finding competition for Sean Rhyan at right guard.
Packers dream starting lineup on defense
- DE Rashan Gary
- DT Kenny Clark
- DT Devonte Wyatt
- DE Preston Smith
- LB Quay Walker
- LB Edgerrin Cooper
- CB Jaire Alexander
- CB Cooper DeJean
- CB Carrington Valentine
- S Xavier McKinney
- S Justin Simmons
We could see more changes on defense. The Packers upgraded the safety position by signing Xavier McKinney and must continue building on the back end.
Swapping Darnell Savage, Jonathan Owens, and Keisean Nixon for McKinney, Justin Simmons, and Cooper DeJean would give the Packers an unbelievable upgrade in the secondary.
Simmons is a four-time All-Pro and intercepts passes for fun, having made 19 over the past five seasons. He could play deep or in the box, allowing Hafley to move his safeties around to disguise coverages and create confusion. DeJean should be near the top of the Packers' draft board next month. He could play outside corner or safety, but we have him as the starting slot corner in this lineup.
Linebacker could also be a draft-day priority following De'Vondre Campbell's departure, and Edgerrin Cooper is a name to watch in the second round. Cooper made an impressive 17 tackles for loss and eight sacks last season and would give the Packers another playmaker in the middle of the field alongside Quay Walker.
Sign Simmons, use pick No. 25 on DeJean, No. 41 on Cooper, and thank me later, Brian Gutekunst.
