Anders Carlson and Greg Joseph spent an entire summer trying to lose the kicking job. Despite showing the ability to make kicks from any distance, their lack of consistency raised alarm bells for the Green Bay Packers.

The winner at the end of the preseason? None of them.

Joseph made the 53-man roster over Carlson but was swiftly replaced by rookie Brayden Narveson, whom the Packers claimed off of waivers.

Narveson has never kicked in the NFL, but the Packers rated him highly coming out of college and made a move once he became available. After an impressive summer with the Tennessee Titans, he gets the first opportunity to kick for the Packers in the regular season.

All-Pro cornerback Jaire Alexander has watched him closely and has seen enough.

Jaire Alexander is impressed by new Packers kicker Brayden Narveson

Narveson hasn't had long to impress the Packers' coaching staff, and practice reps can't replicate the pressure of a real NFL game. However, he has made the best possible start.

In an interview with The Athletic's Matt Schneidman, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur revealed that Alexander has already given his seal of approval.

"His first kick, it was a 56-yarder into the wind and he nailed it," LaFleur told Schneidman. "Jaire actually, after a couple of his kicks, came up to me and he's like, 'Man, I love this guy.' The early returns are very favorable up to this point."

Jaire has seen enough. He believes in the Packers' new kicker. After an ugly battle between Carlson and Joseph all summer, who can blame him?

It's refreshing to hear about a Packers kicker making long-range field goals in the wind. Narveson can expect plenty of challenging conditions at Lambeau Field.

The rookie impressed in the preseason for Tennessee, making 6 of 7 field goals. His only miss came from 58 yards. He was perfect with every other attempt, including a 59-yarder. Narveson only converted 78 percent of his field goals in college but hit all 196 extra-point tries without a miss, something Packers fans will be relieved to hear.

Until Narveson proves himself in the regular season, the Packers still don't know whether they have found their Mason Crosby replacement.

However, he has made the best possible start in practice and has a new fan in Jaire Alexander. The Packers may have finally found their kicker, and Narveson is already proving them right for signing him to replace Carlson.
