Brett Favre knows what it takes to win. He led the Green Bay Packers to back-to-back Super Bowls, winning his first against the New England Patriots.

The current Packers team has the talent to make a deep playoff run in the NFC. Jordan Love is a star, he is surrounded by an ascending supporting cast, and the defense has a new lease of life under Jeff Hafley. Everything is looking up in Green Bay.

However, special teams concerns continue. Anders Carlson's missed kick was partially to blame for the Packers' playoff exit to the San Francisco 49ers. After the most underwhelming kicking battle imaginable, Carlson lost out to veteran Greg Joseph, who actually posted worse numbers over the summer.

The Packers could make another change at kicker before Week 1, but they are unlikely to find a reliable veteran who can convert kicks with the consistency of Mason Crosby.

So, what should Green Bay do?

Brett Favre has the perfect solution to Packers' kicking woes

Favre has the answer. What should Matt LaFleur do when the Packers reach fourth down in field-goal range? Why not just go for it? After all, you don't have to kick.

I like Favre's thinking. If there's a decent chance your kicker is going to miss anyway, why not just let Jordan Love do his thing? One of Love's best throws last season came on a fourth-and-1 to Romeo Doubs against the Kansas City Chiefs.

While Favre's comments are very much tongue-in-cheek, it will be interesting to see whether the Packers do go for it more frequently. If they are within three yards of a first down and face a long kick, putting the ball in Love's hands might actually be the best decision.

As we've learned over the past year, there's no such thing as "settling" for three points in Green Bay. Carlson could miss from any distance, and Joseph hasn't faired much better.

Maybe Favre has a point. You can't miss kicks if you never attempt them.
