The wait goes on. With the Green Bay Packers beginning training camp in less than a week, time is running out for Brian Gutekunst to hit his target of having a Jordan Love contract extension finalized before then.

We're seeing why Gutekunst wanted to get a deal over the line quickly.

The same question arises whenever Love is in front of a camera. Is a contract extension on the way? The Packers want Love to focus on the upcoming season and not have to keep answering questions about his future.

But the questions will keep coming until a deal gets done, just as they did on Tuesday.

Jordan Love interview ended early after question about his Packers contract

On Tuesday, Love hosted a youth football camp in Milwaukee. During the event, he spent time answering questions from reporters. According to Mike Clemens of Sirius XM, reporters were told the interview would be over if anyone asked Love about his contract status.

And they weren't lying.

A reporter began to ask, but the interview was ended before they could finish the question.

Love took it in good humor, but the decision was taken out of his hands. There were clear instructions not to ask about his contract, but the reporter was just doing their job. It's the million-dollar question. Well, the $50 million (or more) question.

This is the exact situation the Packers need to avoid.

It's one thing to shut down an interview during a youth football camp, but this won't go away unless a deal is finalized before Love speaks to the media next week. The questions will keep coming all summer, potentially adding an unwanted distraction to the Packers' training camp.

Love only has a year remaining on his contract and the Packers want to ensure he remains in Green Bay long-term.

But the two sides haven't reached an agreement yet. The longer it drags on, the more situations like this will arise.

Note to Gutekunst: Get it done.
