When Josh Jacobs signed with the Green Bay Packers, he and quarterback Jordan Love quickly formed a strong relationship. Already this summer, Jacobs has offered extremely high praise for his new quarterback.

It seems both guys are on board with having each other's backs, too, from the looks of it.

The Packers quarterback answered some questions on a live video, recently, for Bleacher Report and one of them happened to be in regards to his new running back.

Love was asked about Jacobs getting awfully close to breaking an NFL record, and not one he'd be proud to break. To this point in his career, Jacobs has totaled 197 receptions, but none of them have concluded with him in the end zone. That number is four away from tying an NFL record held by former pro running back Gerald Riggs, who caught 201 passes without scoring.

Jordan Love assures fans that Josh Jacobs will not break the record

Green Bay's quarterback answered the question by offering an unwavering response:

“No, that’s not going to happen. I definitely saw that the other day. I’m surprised he doesn’t have any touchdowns yet. Let’s see, it’s right here, 197 career receptions, zero receiving touchdowns. I sent that to him, I said, ‘Bro, we’re going to get you a touchdown, for sure.’ First pass to him might be a touchdown, who knows. We’re gonna see. Five receptions away from it? We’ll make sure he gets a touchdown in there.”

Typically, one would associate breaking a record with positive responses. But, of course, this isn't the type of record Jacobs wants to break. Over the years, the Packers have used running backs as receivers on a regular basis, and have had success with scoring touchdowns in that fashion, too.

During Aaron Jones' career with the Packers, he caught 18 touchdowns on 272 receptions. Green Bay saw him receive at least 60 targets in four-straight seasons, at one point, and just last year with Love, Jones would still see 43 targets despite missing six games.

The outlook for Jacobs, in Green Bay, is likely to see him as the workhorse on first and second downs. But, don't count out his ability to catch the ball. He's shown a knack to be able to catch the football and make moves after the catch, and the Packers will utilize that skill set, no doubt.
