Jordan Love proves a point in Packers preseason

Jordan Love started all three Green Bay Packers preseason games, and he proved a point.

He is ready.

Love takes over as the Packers' starting quarterback following the Aaron Rodgers trade, finally getting his opportunity after a three-year wait. The Packers were written off the moment they moved on from Rodgers, but Love had other ideas.

It was only preseason -- Love's real challenge begins in two weeks -- but the 2020 first-round pick passed every test. He looked comfortable, at ease in this offense, and ready to start in the regular season.

Love dominated in the preseason the same way Rodgers used to. Play a few series, make some highlight-reel plays, throw a touchdown pass, leave. Love did that each week.

Jordan Love proves he is ready in Packers preseason

Love couldn't have made a better impression in the preseason.

Despite leading a much-changed offense with new receivers, Love made it look easy. He attempted 33 passes, completing 21 for 193 yards and three touchdowns with a passer rating of 109.8.

Love's preseason work places a bow on a fine summer.

With Rodgers gone, it could have gone a completely different way for Love and the Packers. He easily could have struggled with turnovers, not made many encouraging plays, and given the team little hope for the upcoming season. With so much change on offense, it would have been understandable.

But Love stepped up, showed how far he has come over the past three years, and looked more than ready to begin his journey as an NFL starting quarterback.

The real challenge awaits, beginning at Soldier Field against the division-rival Chicago Bears in two weeks. Win there, and even Love's biggest doubters could be forced to recognize that the Packers have found their new long-term quarterback. The future is here.
