The Green Bay Packers are smartly keeping their cards close to their chest regarding Jordan Love's status for their Week 3 game against the Tennessee Titans.

Part of the reason is that they truly don't know whether Love will play. The former first-round pick said he will "take it day by day and see how it feels." An added benefit is that it keeps the Titans guessing and forces them to prepare for all eventualities.

Love returned to practice on Wednesday, which was a significant step in his recovery. How his knee responded became the next big question.

The good news keeps coming.

Jordan Love's chances of Week 3 return increase after practicing again on Thursday

Love continued his recovery by logging consecutive practices. The Packers were in pads on Thursday, and No. 10 was out there.

It's another notable step in his recovery. He cleared the first hurdle by returning to practice, but it only mattered if he felt good the following day. Practicing again is a great sign that he continues to make progress.

Head coach Matt LaFleur will likely hide the details as much as possible. On Wednesday, he refused to go beyond saying Love was "limited" at practice. We can expect more of the same.

But actions speak louder than LaFleur's words, and Love's back-to-back practice sessions bode well for an imminent return. It remains unclear whether he will take the field in Week 3, but the chances are seemingly improving by the day.

Love likely won't be at 100 percent by Sunday, but the Packers will spend the next few days determining how close he is. Can he protect himself? Can he operate the offense without risking further injury and move without pain?

Practicing for a second day is a good indication that he is, at the very least, close to checking those boxes.
