Romeo Doubs' absence creates several questions for the Green Bay Packers ahead of their Week 5 game against the Los Angeles Rams.

The team added Doubs to the injury report on Thursday due to personal reasons, and he hasn't practiced since. On Friday, Bill Huber of Sports Illustrated dropped a bombshell report that Doubs no-showed practice due to frustration over his "opportunities in the passing game."

It places his status for Week 5 in doubt, enough so that the Packers have listed him as doubtful on the injury report.

Head coach Matt LaFleur hasn't said much about Doubs' status, but his limited answers make more sense after Huber's report.

What Matt LaFleur said about Romeo Doubs' absence from Packers practice

After Doubs missed Thursday's practice, the only information LaFleur gave was that "it was personal." That's what the injury report states, and LaFleur understandably didn't want to provide further details. However, his next response was noticeable.

A reporter asked LaFleur if he expected Doubs back at practice on Friday.

"Yeah, I would hope so," said LaFleur.

That response makes even more sense following Huber's report. LaFleur easily could've said something more vague like "we'll see" or "we'll find out tomorrow," but in just a few words, he made it pretty clear he expected Doubs back. However, he didn't make the same commitment when asked whether Doubs would play in Week 5.

"We'll take it one day at a time," said LaFleur.

So, he believed Doubs would return to practice on Friday but wasn't sure if he would play on Sunday? Was LaFleur sending a message to his receiver?

The Packers' head coach didn't provide many more answers on Friday, simply stating they were taking it "day-by-day." The injury report followed shortly after LaFleur's press conference, revealing Doubs' doubtful designation.

If Doubs did, in fact, skip practice without giving the team a heads up, it leaves them in a tough situation. It would undoubtedly break some trust between Doubs and the coaching staff. But until we get more details, it's important not to draw too many conclusions.

Still, it's a difficult situation, and in the meantime, Doubs' absence will hurt the team in Week 5.
