7 free agents who would love to play with Jeff Hafley, Packers in 2024
2. Jeff Okudah, cornerback
Another player that crossed paths with Hafley in his brief time with Ohio State is former Detroit Lions top draft pick Jeff Okudah.
Okudah was obviously a much bigger name just a handful of years ago before he struggled at the NFL level with injuries, but he played this past season for the Atlanta Falcons and has at least earned another shot somewhere in 2024.
The Packers know a thing or two about former first-round cornerbacks struggling with injuries, given the fact that Eric Stokes has not played a lot over the past two years. Perhaps the Packers could challenge Stokes by bringing in Okudah, whose value in free agency could be dwarfed by his on-field production if he can string together a healthy season.
3. Ahkello Witherspoon, cornerback
Another cornerback that could be really intriguing for Green Bay and a potential reunion with Jeff Hafley is free agent Ahkello Witherspoon. Witherspoon once played for Hafley with the San Francisco 49ers, where Hafley was his defensive backs coach.
Witherspoon hasn't been elite at the cornerback position, by any stretch, but he has outstanding size and length at the position and gets his hands on the ball quite a bit. He had three interceptions this past year for the Los Angeles Rams.
