4. Chase Young, EDGE

Yet another former Ohio State connection, the Green Bay Packers probably won't be the biggest players in NFL free agency for edge guys. The Packers could potentially move on from Preston Smith this offseason, but with Lukas Van Ness waiting in the wings, they aren't likely to be spending big money for someone opposite of Rashan Gary right now.

With that being said, it would be worth checking into the price tag of former No. 2 overall pick Chase Young. Young is finishing out the 2023 season with the San Francisco 49ers but I think he has a chance to be much more productive at his next NFL stop. He struggled badly with injury issues while a member of the Washington Commanders, and those struggles derailed his value quite a bit.

He's still a big-time talent with the ability to have a better second contract elsewhere than he had during his first four years in the league. If the price is right, Hafley and the Packers should consider it.

5. K'Waun Williams, nickel cornerback

K'Waun Williams is another connection with Hafley from his days with the San Francisco 49ers. Williams has been with the Denver Broncos the past two seasons, but didn't play at all in 2023 due to injury.

That lack of playing time in 2023 is concerning, but when Williams was on the field in 2022, he was outstanding playing in that nickel spot. He's a reliable veteran who could be a bargain on a short-term contract, and the Packers proved this past season that you need more than enough depth in the secondary than you maybe even think initially.
