One Packers player on the roster bubble at each position
- Packers face uncertainty at backup quarterback
- Several draft picks not guaranteed to make roster
- Could a free-agent addition miss out?
Cornerback: Shemar Jean-Charles
Assuming Eric Stokes is healthy, the top four on the depth chart are set: Jaire Alexander, Rasul Douglas, Keisean Nixon, and Stokes.
That leaves at least one, but possibly two spots at cornerback. Shemar Jean-Charles provides cover in the slot, but he faces competition. Corey Ballentine played more defensive and special teams snaps than Jean-Charles last season.
Green Bay also drafted Carrington Valentine, who was one of the surprise standouts at OTAs. Jean-Charles faces a lot of competition for a roster spot this summer.
Safety: Tarvarius Moore
The depth at safety makes for a fascinating roster battle. We can assume Darnell Savage will keep his starting job, but who will line up next to him?
Tarvarius Moore is one of three additions at safety, along with Jonathan Owens and rookie Anthony Johnson Jr.
Rudy Ford is in pole position to start, having impressed in the role last season. Owens started 17 games for the Houston Texans last year, so he offers experience. Johnson is a rookie with potential, and the Packers may not want to risk losing him on waivers. Dallin Leavitt is an important special teams player.
Unless the Packers keep six safeties, one of them has to miss out. If Tarvarius Moore isn't a starter on defense and doesn't play as many special teams snaps as Leavitt, he could be the odd man out.
