Overreactions are common after opening weekend, but the return of football can reveal a team's biggest concerns.

Green Bay Packers fans couldn't understand the decision not to target a cornerback early in the 2024 NFL Draft, especially when the team later declined Eric Stokes' fifth-year option. It's a decision that could come back to haunt them if either Stokes or Jaire Alexander miss time this season.

Draft season may feel like a long way off, but it's really not. It will be here before long. Green Bay hosts the 2025 NFL Draft, making the event extra special for the Packers' newest additions.

If the season ended today, the Packers would need to find upgrades at cornerback, along the offensive line, and at linebacker. You can see where this mock draft is going.

Packers bolster secondary and offensive line in 2025 NFL mock draft after Week 1

Round 1 (24): Tacario Davis, CB, Arizona

The Packers drafted Arizona's Jordan Morgan in the first round this year, and they could add one of his teammates in 2025. Eric Stokes' contract expires at the end of the season, adding to the team's mounting cornerback concerns.

Tacario Davis is a name to remember.

Davis broke up 15 passes and made one interception for the Wildcats last season. According to PFF, he allowed only 42.6 percent of passes to be completed in his coverage.

"He's one of the most unique cornerbacks in college football, standing 6-foot-4 (rare for the position) and showing smooth movement traits," writes ESPN's Field Yates. "Davis is instinctive with precise timing and technique to be a ball disruptor when it is thrown in his direction, too."

Stokes' uncertain future increases the need to add reinforcements to the secondary. Davis has first-round potential and could become a starter in Green Bay opposite Alexander.

Round 2 (56): Jonah Monheim, C, USC

No team loves offensive line versatility quite like the Packers. USC's Jonah Monheim provides that and could solve Green Bay's biggest need among the starting five.

Monheim has experience at left tackle, right guard, and right tackle, and has this season moved to center, where he could play in the NFL. Per PFF, he allowed only two sacks at left tackle last year. This season, he has looked comfortable at center despite having no previous experience there.

Josh Myers is a free agent in 2025 and has done little to earn an extension. While the Packers could move a veteran like Elgton Jenkins or Zach Tom to center, their best option is to draft Myers' replacement. Monheim could be a Day 1 starter at center while offering the flexibility to play across the offensive line.

The Packers almost always draft linemen with tackle experience, even if they project to move inside. Monheim checks that box.

Round 3 (88): Ajani Cornelius, T, Oregon

Another area of concern along the offensive line is the swing tackle spot. The Packers drafted Jordan Morgan in the first round, but he spent almost the entire summer at right guard, which is where he featured in Week 1.

Morgan's arm length raised concerns in the pre-draft process about his long-term potential at tackle, and the Packers could fix that by drafting Oregon's Ajani Cornelius. This would allow Morgan to play permanently inside while giving the Packers another option at tackle.

At 6-foot-5 and 315 pounds, Cornelius perfectly meets the Packers' strict size thresholds for an offensive lineman. Despite allowing two sacks in Oregon's season opener, he rarely lets his quarterback get hit. Per PFF, Cornelius has allowed only five sacks on 1,403 pass-block snaps for Oregon and Rhode Island.

From The Draft Network's scouting report: "With the right development, Ajani Cornelius is a candidate to be a franchise tackle for an NFL organization."

Cornelius could immediately compete for the swing tackle job with the potential to become a starter long-term.
