3 moves Packers should make ahead of Week 2 matchup vs. Falcons
The Green Bay Packers made an impressive start to the regular season, outperforming the Chicago Bears in all three phases to earn a comfortable victory at Soldier Field. But the Packers still have a lot of work to do.
While it was a performance filled mostly with positives, tougher challenges await. There are also areas where Green Bay must improve.
The Packers are on the road again this week for a matchup with the Atlanta Falcons. Before Week 2 gets underway, here are three moves the Packers must make.
3. Packers must consider their options at center
Green Bay's offensive line dominated the Chicago defensive front in Week 1. David Bakhtiari played at an All-Pro level despite not practicing all week, while new starting right tackle Zach Tom put in a flawless performance.
However, questions remain at center. Josh Myers struggled for periods of the game. Andy Herman of Packer Report gave him the Packers' worst offensive grade in Week 1. Unfortunately, this is nothing new, as Myers struggled throughout training camp and the preseason.
The Packers have to seriously consider their options at center. Zach Tom can play there, but it's risky moving him away from right tackle, where he is playing so well. This week, Green Bay signed former fourth-round pick Michael Jordan to the practice squad. He has experience at center and guard.
Jordan started at center for Ohio State before Myers. Could he replace Myers as the Packers' starting center? Whether it's Jordan, another center on the roster, or an outside free agent, the Packers have to consider their options at the position.
