1. Packers could trade David Bakhtiari in 2023

Rather than waiting until next offseason, another option is for the Packers to find a trade partner before the deadline at the end of October.

As it's post-June 1, releasing or trading Bakhtiari now would split the dead money across two years. According to Over The Cap, the Packers would pay $19.08 million this season and the same amount in 2024. His cap hit would be lowered slightly now, but significantly in 2024.

Contending teams that need tackle help could provide trade opportunities. That could include a reunion with Aaron Rodgers with the New York Jets, or protecting Patrick Mahomes with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The bad news is that Green Bay would lose its starting left tackle this season. Zach Tom and Yosh Nijman would likely start, with one sliding over to left tackle to replace Bakhtiari.

But the Packers would net 2024 draft compensation and lower Bakhtiari's cap hits this and next season.

Maybe a contending team picks up the phone and makes an offer before training camp, or perhaps a team loses its left tackle to injury around midseason and makes a deal with Green Bay before the trade deadline.

It's something the Packers would have to seriously consider.
