Roster cuts around the NFL are the end of the line for many players, but the beginning of a brand-new chapter for many others. Although you might not be finding many immediate starters on the waiver wire, you might find immediate contributors and valuable depth. It's all about getting the best 53-man roster possible, and for the Green Bay Packers, there may be some opportunities available to improve.

Frankly, the Packers should be very encouraged by what they saw throughout the course of the preseason and how the roster has progressed in the post-Aaron Rodgers era. Although general manager Brian Gutekunst has come under intense scrutiny in recent years for his NFL Draft decisions, the Packers have a rather robust, mostly home-grown roster full of players that could be a legitimate competitor in the NFC North this season.

Although some are not expecting much out of the Packers, this is a team that could make a couple of necessary additions for depth and really benefit over the long haul of a 17-game season. But what options are out there worth exploring? Let's take a look at some roster cuts that the Packers should absolutely look into adding.

5 roster cuts the Green Bay Packers should consider adding

1. Bradley Roby, cornerback

For the second consecutive year, the New Orleans Saints have cut (or moved on from) their primary nickel defensive back. Last year, it was the trade of Chauncey Gardner-Johnson that shocked many in the NFL. This year, it was saying goodbye to veteran Bradley Roby.

Roby was a first-round pick of the Denver Broncos back in 2014, and he helped the team win Super Bowl 50. Although he hasn't received nearly the fanfare, he was an important part of that dominant "No Fly Zone" secondary and he's had a rather good career for himself in his post-Denver Broncos days as a member of the Saints and Houston Texans.

Roby could help a rather thin Packers cornerback group working outside or in the nickel, especially with Eric Stokes opening up the season on the PUP.
