Jordan Love returned from injury in Week 4, but he may have lost one of his star wide receivers for multiple weeks.

Christian Watson suffered an ankle injury in the Green Bay Packers' loss to the Minnesota Vikings. He was carted off the field and couldn't return to the game.

And Watson could miss some time. According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the belief is that he suffered a high-ankle sprain. Schultz notes that the former second-round pick will have more tests on Monday.

The severity of the injury will determine how much time Watson misses, but it seems likely the Packers will be without their star receiver for a while. Watson can't catch a break. He worked hard in the offseason to overcome frustrating hamstring injuries, and so far, he hasn't suffered any soft-tissue issues. His latest injury was simply bad luck.

Packers need other receivers to step up if Christian Watson misses time

Love leaned heavily on Dontayvion Wicks following Watson's injury. Wicks has star potential but has struggled with drops in the opening quarter of the season. He had multiple on Sunday, including a dropped touchdown pass that hit him in the chest.

Wicks bounced back to finish with five catches for 78 yards and two touchdowns, but on 13 targets, the Packers would have hoped for an even bigger day. Hopefully, he built some momentum late in the game and can carry that confidence into next week.

Alongside Jayden Reed and Romeo Doubs, Wicks is likely next up to see an increase in snaps. He made some huge plays for the Packers last season, and they will need more of that in the weeks ahead if Watson is out.

The Packers have good wide receiver depth, but it's impossible to replace Watson. He drags defenders with him all over the field, is an excellent blocker, and can swing momentum with one catch. Hopefully, he makes a quick recovery.

In the meantime, Green Bay needs its other young receivers to step up.
