It was a scary moment.

Christian Watson stayed down for a few minutes on the final play of practice, with Green Bay Packers players taking a knee. Many feared the worst, including head coach Matt LaFleur.

Fortunately, Watson avoided a significant injury and got back to his feet quickly. He had a slight limp but reassured fans soon after, saying it was more painful in the moment than a long-term concern. Watson suffered a hit to the knee, but fortunately, he's OK.

The Packers also lost Jayden Reed due to a calf injury, keeping him out of practice.

LaFleur provided an update on both players.

Packers coach Matt LaFleur has no long-term concerns for Christian Watson or Jayden Reed

LaFleur said there are no long-term concerns about Reed's calf injury. It's always concerning when a player misses practice due to a soft-tissue injury, but it sounds like the Packers are just being cautious with their star receiver.

There's good news on Watson, too, although LaFleur was just as concerned as the rest of us when he initially went down.

"That was a big-time scare," said LaFleur. "He seems to be doing well this morning. He just got hit on the knee."

Hopefully, Watson's poor injury luck has turned. He suffered a scary hit during Family Night last week but was fine. The good news is he hasn't dealt with any hamstring issues, which is hopefully an early sign that the offseason work has paid off.

If Watson stays healthy, the Packers' offense can become one of the league's best in 2024. Add in a second-year jump for Reed, and they could be unstoppable.

Both players escaped a significant injury, but it's unclear whether they will play in Saturday's preseason opener against the Cleveland Browns.
