Round 3 (97): Trey Benson, RB, Florida State

Another position the Packers must address in the months ahead is running back. While they could use free agency to strengthen the backfield, finding a complement for Aaron Jones in the draft makes more sense.

Florida State's Trey Benson is one of the best running backs in the class and improved his draft stock at the NFL Combine. Benson's impressive 4.39-second 40-yard dash ranked third at the position, helping him earn an outstanding Relative Athletic Score of 9.77 out of 10.

In 2023, Benson rushed for 906 yards and 14 touchdowns at an impressive 5.8 yards per attempt while catching 20 passes for 227 yards and a touchdown. Benson's tackle-breaking ability makes him an ideal replacement for AJ Dillon.

"Benson forced missed tackles at one of the highest rates we've ever recorded in 2022. This season hasn't been as flashy, but his speed, balance and agility remain," writes Trevor Sikkema of Pro Football Focus.

The Packers could double down at running back. There is good depth in this year's class, and Green Bay could have one eye on 2025, focusing on building their future starting combination. Benson has the potential to lead the backfield eventually, but he would be a perfect complement to Aaron Jones this season.
