4. Rasul Douglas, cornerback

Already armed with a boatload of NFL Draft picks, the Packers' decision in the middle of the 2023 season to trade Rasul Douglas had to be motivated by getting young players out on the field.

Otherwise, this trade made virtually no sense from a football perspective.

There were plenty of injury issues last year for the Packers at the cornerback position, not to mention the team-imposed suspension of Jaire Alexander -- their best player at that position group. A wide variety of players actually started games for the Packers last year at cornerback, including Alexander, former first-round pick Eric Stokes, Keisean Nixon, Carrington Valentine, and Corey Ballentine.

Douglas as well, of course.

But trading Douglas didn't feel like it was the right move from a football perspective at all. He actually was instrumental in keying a second-half run last season for the Buffalo Bills as the Packers shipped him off and he wound up picking off four passes in nine games for Buffalo, recovering a pair of fumbles, and breaking up eight passes.

He helped rejuvenate a Bills defense that struggled to a 6-6 record through the first 12 games of the season, and Buffalo was one of the hottest teams going into the playoffs last year.

Meanwhile, the Packers were left with major question marks at the cornerback position when they seemingly had an answer on the roster in Douglas.
