Predicting every national TV game for Packers in 2024 season
The Green Bay Packers should be a popular choice for primetime games in 2024.
Last year, the Packers were expected to enter a rebuilding season with the league's young roster and no Aaron Rodgers. They were still given five primetime games and a Thanksgiving matchup in front of a national audience. After reaching the NFC Divisional Round in a "rebuilding" season, expect to see plenty of Packers football in primetime in 2024.
Green Bay has already been selected for an international game against the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil in Week 1, but it will likely be the first of many primetime matchups for the Packers.
Packers schedule 2024: Predicting which games are selected for primetime
Packers vs. Bears (Sunday Night Football)
Packers-Bears at Lambeau Field carries enough history and excitement and is often a choice for Sunday Night Football. The anticipation reaches another level this season, with a fascinating matchup between 2023 breakout star Jordan Love and 2024 first overall pick Caleb Williams. It will be Williams' first game at Lambeau Field, and he aims to lead Chicago to only its third victory in Green Bay since 2007.
It's a divisional showdown, a historic rivalry between two popular teams, and has the chance to be a display of high-flying offense. This one needs to be in primetime.
Packers at Lions (Monday Night Football)
This rivalry is as interesting as we've seen in years. Neither team held serve in this contest a year ago. Detroit destroyed Green Bay at Lambeau Field on a primetime Thursday night matchup, and the Packers returned the favor by ruining the Lions' Thanksgiving.
The Lions are division champs and reached the NFC Championship Game, but the Packers showed the gap was closing by the end of last season. Jordan Love led Green Bay to a statement victory at Ford Field, with the Packers falling just short of a rematch in Detroit with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line. Both Packers-Lions games will be must-see, and at least one belongs in primetime.
Packers vs. 49ers (Sunday Night Football)
Green Bay's season ended in heartbreak, but not before giving San Francisco a huge scare in the NFC Divisional Round. The Packers and 49ers should again be among the top teams in the conference this year.
Jordan Love admitted that he had the Chiefs game circled last year, wanting revenge for his first career start. You can bet he will be circling the date of San Francisco's trip to Lambeau Field for the same reason. Let's save this for a frozen December evening in Green Bay.
Packers vs. Texans (Monday Night Football)
Jordan Love and C.J. Stroud were the NFL's breakout quarterbacks in 2023, combining for 8,873 passing yards, 58 touchdowns, and just 19 interceptions. They then posted almost identical stat lines in their playoff debuts. Love went 16/21 for 272 yards and three touchdowns with a 157.2 rating. Stroud finished 16/21 for 274 yards and three touchdowns with the same 157.2 rating.
Love and Stroud lead two of the league's most exciting offenses. And let's not forget about a renewal of the Jaire Alexander-Stefon Diggs rivalry. This is a must-see and has to be in primetime.
Packers at Vikings (Thursday Night Football)
Packers-Vikings often finds its way into a primetime slot, especially the game at U.S. Bank Stadium. Even if Minnesota isn't in the NFC North race, it will play a major role in determining the winner of the division. The Packers are 3-5 in the Vikings' new home but won their first game there with Jordan Love.
Minnesota enters a new era with J.J. McCarthy, but its talent at receiver will again test Green Bay's secondary. The Packers may need to win this one, especially if it's late in the season, making it a fascinating matchup between two rivals.
