Romeo Doubs removes all mention of Packers from Instagram account
It has been an eventful start to the season for the Green Bay Packers.
From losing Jordan Love for two games to slow starts from Rashan Gary and Kenny Clark, fighting back from 28-0 to almost beat the Minnesota Vikings, and now this. Romeo Doubs is officially doubtful to play in Week 5 due to a personal matter.
Sports Illustrated's Bill Huber shed light on the situation, reporting that Doubs is unhappy with his opportunities in the Packers' offense.
Nobody saw this coming. Doubs has played more snaps than any other receiver and is one of Love's favorite targets. Was this a specific game plan issue for Week 5? Frustration at the bigger picture?
Whatever the case, it's not a great situation for Doubs or the Packers.
Romeo Doubs scrubs Packers references from his Instagram account
Shortly after Huber's report, Cheesehead TV noted that Doubs had removed every mention of the Packers from his Instagram account.
Of course, whether it's his intention or not, Packers fans are reading into it. Is Doubs sending a message? Does it suggest he doesn't plan to play any time soon? We don't have those answers, but Doubs removing the Packers from his Instagram account creates these questions among the fans.
In the short-term, the Packers' third-year receiver almost certainly won't be available for Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Rams—he is doubtful on the injury report. The Packers also listed Christian Watson as doubtful due to the ankle injury he suffered in last week's loss to the Vikings.
Green Bay will likely enter this game without Doubs and Watson. Love will need to lean on Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks. The Packers are lucky to have such great wide receiver depth, which also highlights why Doubs doesn't dominate the targets. This is a deep receiving group and they spread the ball around.
Does Doubs' Instagram account hint at anything? Who knows? But it's not a great situation, regardless.
