3. Khalil Herbert, Chicago Bears

With David Montgomery gone, the Chicago Bears need a big season from Khalil Herbert in 2023. He will face competition for the Bears' No. 1 running back job this summer, but Herbert has a great chance of leading the backfield this season.

The Bears drafted Herbert in the sixth round two years ago. He has played a backup role at running back behind Montgomery, but impressed and probably should've been given more opportunities.

As a rookie, Herbert rushed for 433 yards and two touchdowns at a healthy average of 4.2 yards per attempt. He reached another level last season, turning his 129 attempts into 731 yards and four touchdowns at an excellent average of 5.7 yards per carry.

One area the Bears would like to see more from him is in the receiving game. Herbert has only caught 23 passes for 153 yards and a touchdown in his first two seasons. But in a featured role, those numbers should improve this year.

Unless the Bears add another running back this summer, Herbert is set for more opportunities in his third season. He impressed as the No. 2 behind Montgomery. Can he now put together his first 1,000-yard year in 2023?
