Potential Cooper Kupp trade destination could spell disaster for Packers

No one asked for this!

The Packers aren't getting Cooper Kupp. Green Bay was never a realistic trade (or free agent) destination for the Rams' wideout, and that's not what this blog is even really about. The Packers are in on plenty of NFL stars that may be leaving their longtime team this offseason, but Kupp's just not one of them. That's okay.

What's not okay is who may, in fact, be a good fit for Kupp's last few years in the league. Thanks to our good friends at Bleacher Report – who are actually now our sworn enemies – Kupp's best fit may be with a Packers' NFC North rival. In a big roundup of interesting trade ideas, B/R writes some truly horrifying words about how Kupp could be one of a few stars to end up with the Lions in the next couple weeks.

B/R floats Lions trade for Cooper Kupp that would be a *disaster* for Green Bay

Rams Get: 2025 third-round pick, 2026 sixth-round pick
Lions Get: WR Cooper Kupp

"Pairing Kupp with wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown would make Detroit's offense that much more lethal. The third-rounder is found money—a compensatory pick awarded after Aaron Glenn left for New York. Deal for Kupp, go flip a couple firsts for Cleveland Browns edge-rusher Myles Garrett and win the damn Super Bowl."

Maybe none of this matters because Ben Johnson is gone? That's what I'm choosing to believe, and it's not like Johnson's going to fix *the Chicago Bears.* The good news for the Packers in this scenario is that Kupp certainly seems like he's, uh, not quite the same player he used to be. He hasn't played more than 12 games since 2021, and his stats have been dipping ever since that season, when he won the NFL's Offensive Player of the Year award.

But there's just something about the idea of Kupp playing for Dan Campbell – and in a climate-controlled dome 8+ times a year – that's deeply unsettling. Campbell surely would have some sort of very-energetic approach to redefining the end of Kupp's career that would absolutely come back to bite the Packers. I just don't like the vibes of this trade at all. Let's get Kupp onto, like, the Chargers or Bengals or something, where he'll just quietly put up 760 yards and lose on Wild Card Weekend, far away from the Packers.
