Back in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers thought they came away with quite the value when they selected wide receiver Romeo Doubs out of Nevada. The Packers took Doubs in the fourth round at No. 132 overall, but he would go on to become an integral part of the team for the next four seasons.

After becoming a free agent this year, for the first time in his career, Doubs chose to sign elsewhere when he inked a four-year deal with the New England Patriots.

With the NFL schedule release happening this week, Doubs shared some time with Patriots media and was asked about his new team facing Green Bay on the upcoming 2026 slate.

"Nah, man. Green Bay took care of me. It wouldn't be a reason for me to have that type of pressure against them," Doubs said.

"My career started there. They taught me the foundation of football, how football works, situational football, just understanding complimentary football, how teams can be - just the overall game in general. They showed me the ropes in that area. And again, I do know that we play them this year, but no, it's not even like that."

Romeo Doubs' response to facing Packers on the 2026 schedule shows tremendous growth

For Packers fans who have been tuned in since Doubs' rookie year, this definitely comes as a breath of fresh air. Now, this isn't to say Doubs was a bad guy or anything. No, not at all.

But, there were certainly times where his attitude or intentions were in question.

Back in October of 2024, Doubs skipped a pair of Packers practices and, suddenly, fans had reason to be alarmed. There were reports of Doubs' reasoning for skipping said practices being because he was upset with his role in the team's offense.

During that same period of time, Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst opted to suspend Doubs for a game due to "conduct detrimental to the team."

This is a moment in time, for Packers fans, that will always stick in their minds no matter what, when they hear Doubs' name.

Now, fast forward a year and a half later, and Doubs sounds like he's grown quite a bit.

(Or, he's $70 million richer and it's easier to say the right things when you have money in your pocket).

We'll give him the benefit of the doubt, here, though. It was nice to hear Doubs open up about his time in Green Bay and speak so highly of the Packers' organization.

When the two teams meet this coming season, you had better believe Doubs will have extra motivation, no matter what he wants us to think. That's just how human nature works, and there's nothing wrong with it!

Hopefully, the Packers and Patriots put on a show, and maybe that'll even include a big game from the former Packers draft pick. For his sake, Doubs has a big game -- but for the Packers' sake, Green Bay pulls out the victory.
