Well, that escalated quickly.

It started with Romeo Doubs missing practice on Thursday due to a personal matter. Two days later, the Green Bay Packers have suspended Doubs for one game due to "conduct detrimental to the team."

The Packers haven't revealed the full details of why they suspended him, and they likely won't, but Bill Huber of Sports Illustrated reports that Doubs skipped practice because "he is upset with his opportunities in the passing game."

Doubs is unavailable for Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Rams. Christian Watson is also doubtful due to an ankle injury, leaving the Packers without two of their best wide receivers for an important game.

Packers GM provides an explanation for Romeo Doubs suspension

While the Packers haven't explained the exact reason why they suspended Doubs, general manager Brian Gutekunst has released a statement via the team's official website:

"Unfortunately, we had to make the difficult decision to suspend Romeo for this week's game," said Gutekunst. "His decisions and actions during the week negatively impacted the team and required us to take this action. While we are certainly disappointed, we are confident that we will be able to move forward in a positive manner. Romeo is a valuable member of our team and we look forward to welcoming him back next week."

Well, it seems to align with Huber's report for Sports Illustrated. He didn't practice for two days and has now landed a one-game suspension.

Considering Doubs' role in the offense, it's a surprising situation. The Packers spread the ball around, but Jordan Love regularly looks Doubs' way—he led the team in targets last season.

Hopefully, the issue will be resolved and won't lead to any further problems. The Packers did something similar with Jaire Alexander last season, and the two sides quickly got things figured out.

Without Doubs, the Packers need Dontayvion Wicks to step up. While the second-year receiver continues to get open, he struggled with drops in last week's game against the Minnesota Vikings before scoring two touchdowns. It also places a greater emphasis on Jayden Reed's role, who is quickly emerging as the Packers' best receiver.

Green Bay will miss Doubs, but the hope is that the two sides can settle their differences and get back on track after this suspension. Hopefully, the offense can find a way to win without him this week.
