Romeo Doubs trade buzz is back just before Packers kick off minicamp

The Green Bay Packers have two trade situations that need to be monitored, as there is a very good chance that either wide receiver Romeo Doubs or cornerback Jaire Alexander end up on new teams due to either contract disputes or positional logjams (or both).

After the Packers used a first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft to select Matthew Golden and supplemented that pick with a third-round choice on Savion Williams, teams around the league will be trying to convince Brian Gutekunst that Doubs is not worth holding onto.

Bleacher Report's most likely Packers player to end up being traded in the next few months was actually not Alexander, but rather Doubs. For both player and team alike, this move makes a ton of sense after the way their 2025 NFL Draft capital was allocated.

Doubs is still a solid outside receiver who has pulled off some big catches during his time with the Packers, but it seems unlikely that he will sign any sort of long-term contract with Green Bay. A trade could help the Packers try to get something of value back while giving the younger additions some runway to shine.

Packers projected by B/R to trade wide receiver Romeo Doubs

Doubs caught 46 passes for 601 yards and four touchdowns last season, making him one part of the four-headed chimera of Packers wide receivers that were all solid pass-catchers, but no No. 1 targets. The hope is that Golden can assume the WR1 role Doubs has so rarely occupied.

Golden and Reed will likely be in line for a healthy target diet, and tight ends like Tucker Kraft will remain an important part of the passing game. If either Dontayvion Wicks or Savion Williams emerges as a solid No. 3 wide receiver, both Doubs and the injured Christian Watson could be booted out of town.

Still just 25 years old, Doubs has his best football in the windshield, not the rear-view mirror. If the Packers hold onto Doubs until injuries start to ravage wide receiver rooms in the preseason, they could milk a very valuable pick out of some of their rivals desperate for Doubs' strong hands.

Let's just hope that Doubs was renting in Green Bay. Barring a career-breakout that helps him star alongside Reed and Golden, a trade appears to be more likely than Green Bay making him a long-term contributor to their Jordan Love-centric contention project.
