The Green Bay Packers seemingly found a diamond in wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks, drafting him in the fifth round in 2023.

After an impressive rookie season in which Wicks went for 581 yards and four touchdowns, he hasn't been utilized in the offense as much as he deserves to be.

That's why Moe Moton of Bleacher Report proposed that the Packers trade Wicks to the Baltimore Ravens. The logic here is that the Packers aren't giving Wicks the playing time he needs, and that the Ravens need a WR3 in their offense.

"As a rookie fifth-rounder out of Virginia, Dontayvion Wicks carved out a role in the Packers' aerial attack, hauling in 39 passes for 581 yards and four touchdowns in 2023. But the rise of wideout Jayden Reed, along with the addition of first-rounder Matthew Golden, buried him on the depth chart. Also, tight end Tucker Kraft took on an expanded role in the passing game before he tore his ACL," Moton writes.

"Wicks has shown he can exceed the expectations of a Day 3 draft pick with limited opportunities in the passing game. However, unless the Packers trade one of the other receivers, he won't reach his full potential with them."

Bleacher Report says Packers should trade Dontayvion Wicks to Ravens

This is a trade that makes perfect sense for both sides when you think about it. The Packers' starting receiver room will consist of Matthew Golden, Jayden Reed, and Christian Watson, leaving Wicks as a depth piece. He's entering the final year of his rookie contract, so why try to get something for him while they can if they're not going to use him?

There were rumors before free agency that Wicks' name had come up in trade conversations.

In this scenario, Wicks would go to a Super Bowl contender where he'd immediately become a bigger piece of their offense. Oh, and he'd get to catch passes from two-time MVP winner Lamar Jackson. No big deal there.

Perhaps the Packers continue to hold onto Wicks simply because he's a great depth piece and can step up if injuries occur, but that might not be the smart move here. If they're not going to give him the playing time he deserves, then trading him is the best possible option, and the Ravens feel like one of the best possible fits for the former fifth-rounder.
