Scott Novak is in his sixth season as a head referee in the NFL. He has previous experience as a side judge, field judge, and umpire.
This is Novak's seventh Packers game as a referee. He most recently officiated the team's 23-19 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers last season. Fun fact: Novak was a side judge during the Aaron Rodgers Hail Mary game against the Detroit Lions in 2015.
Now a head referee, Novak's crew awards penalties at one of the lowest rates in the league, which is always good to hear. Per NFL Penalties, Novak has handed out the fourth-fewest penalties this season. In 2023, he had the third-lowest total.
