Wide Receiver (5)
Starters: Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, Jarrett Boykin
Backups: Davante Adams, Myles White
Cut: Jeff Janis, Kevin Dorsey, Alex Gillett, Chris Harper, Gerrard Sheppard
Injured Reserve: Jared Abbrederis
The young depth at receiver hasn’t quite lived up to its hype going into the preseason. In my opinion, the group beyond the starters has been inconsistent in game situations. Boykin has locked up the third receiver spot ahead of second-round pick Adams, who has been up and down to this point.
White will narrowly beat out Janis, Dorsey, and Gillett for the final spot at wide receiver because he’s been more consistent than the other three, and he can contribute on special teams in a number of ways.
So far, Janis only has one impressive play on his resume during live action, which just isn’t enough to go on. The Packers could stash Janis and Dorsey on the practice squad in hopes to develop them further.
