Wide Receiver

Of any position, this is most likely the best in any league for a quick pickup.

It’s easy to see why; any player can get targeted for a pass or two and maybe get a touchdown in any given week, especially in garbage time.

I’ll give you five guys here.

John Brown of Arizona is a big play threat, showing the best of that last week with his seam-splitting speed for the game-winning TD against Philadelphia.

Speaking of Philly, Jordan Matthews has garnered at least six targets and four catches in the past five games; with so many TDs going Jeremy Maclin‘s way so far, things could even out some and end up being caught by Matthews instead.

Kenny Britt hasn’t impressed this year, but with the injury to Brian Quick in St. Louis he at least in theory stands to see an increase in targets and production.

Donte Moncrief came out of nowhere in the wake of an injury to Reggie Wayne to put up 113 yards and a TD last week; even with Wayne back, he probably showed enough to continue getting targets.

My personal favorite of the pick-ups would be Stevie Johnson. When he was in Buffalo he was one of my favorite receivers to watch, and while his production is more scattered in San Francisco he still tends to be a good option for Colin Kaepernick and produce here and there.

He has grabbed five passes each of the last two weeks – including their last matchup against the Rams – and a TD in three of the past four weeks, so potential for production is there.

Grab one or two of these guys, and you should be good to go for Week 9.

Potential Pick-ups: Johnson, Matthews, Brown, Moncrief, Britt

Predictions:
Johnson – 5 catches, 70 yards, TD; about 13 fantasy points
Matthews – 6 catches, 90 yards, TD; about 15 fantasy points
Brown – 3 catches, 80 yards; about 8 fantasy points
Moncrief – 4 catches, 60 yards; about 6 fantasy points
Britt – 5 catches, 40 yards, TD; about 10 fantasy points
