If Carl Davis is available for the Packers by the time they are on the clock in the second round, they shouldn’t pass up the opportunity.
Davis is a powerful player and uses all of his big frame (6-5, 320 pounds) to attack. He has the ability to perform well against double teams, and that would bode well for him fitting into the Packers’ 3-4 defense as the nose tackle.
His size, strength and athleticism would make him an important run-stopping lineman for the Packers. Davis has been likened the Lions’ defensive tackle C.J. Mosley. Mosley played a key role in the Lions’ number-one ranked rush defense in 2014.
Davis finished his four years in Iowa with 94 tackles and 3.5 sacks. If he can transition his talent to the NFL, he could become an anchor on the Packers’ defensive line.
