For once I’m not referring to Randall, but David Cobb, the running back from Minnesota.
Cobb joins a deep class of backs in this year’s NFL Draft, and could potentially be targeted by the Packers with a mid-round pick.
A year ago, the Packers’ depth at the position was incredible; Eddie Lacy led a rushing attack with James Starks, DuJuan Harris and Johnathan Franklin fighting for the spot behind him. Since then, Franklin has retired after a serious neck injury and Harris has joined the Minnesota Vikings.
The Packers still have their 1-2 punch in Lacy and Starks, and they like young prospect Rajion Neal. Nevertheless, general manager Ted Thompson may take advantage of a deep pool of running backs and draft a player like Cobb in the fourth or fifth-round.
