Both the 2012 and 2013 seasons share two agonizing similarities: The 49ers beat the Packers in the season-opener and then followed it up by eliminating them from the playoffs.

The Packers will look to snap a four-game losing streak when they enter Levi’s Stadium for the first time.

A lot has changed since the 49ers kicked a walk-off field goal at Lambeau Field to eliminate the Packers in the Wild Card round of the 2013 playoffs.

Well, the Packers haven’t lost at Lambeau since and came within minutes of a Super Bowl appearance.

The 49ers slid to their first playoff-less season since 2010 and are now without head coach Jim Harbaugh.

2015 may be a good time to play the 49ers, who are looking to rebuild after the loss of a number of key players including Frank Gore, Patrick Willis and Chris Borland.

Either way, this game will mean a lot to Packers fans, who have suffered a lot of heartbreak at the hands of the 49ers in recent years. Until McCarthy finally breaks the losing streak, this rivalry will mean something to Packers fans.
