The 2015 NFL Draft is quickly approaching, and soon we’ll finally get to see how this whole draft picture plays out and who the Green Bay Packers will add to their roster.
In anticipation of the draft, I put together my position-by-position rankings, taking a close look at the top prospects in this class and who Green Bay could target come draft day.
Last week, we broke down the defensive positions: defensive line, edge rusher, inside linebacker, cornerback, and safety. Earlier this week, we turned to the offense and took a look at this year’s running back class.
Today, we’ll analyze the Packers top offensive need going into the draft–the tight end position.
They could use an athletic receiving tight end that can stretch the middle of the field and create mismatch problems for defenses. They could also use a grinder in the running game and a guy that can make an impact as a blocker.

Currently, they like what they have in second-year man, Richard Rodgers, but he doesn’t seem to fit either one of these roles. Andrew Quarless is their next best option at the position, but he’s underperformed throughout his career.
Here’s a look at this year’s tight end class and who Green Bay could target this week.
When ranking players, I like to group them into four tiers during the pre-draft process and then rank the players within those tiers.
Tier One: Potential impact players at the next level.
Tier Two: Players who could be solid starters or make contributions as a rookie.
Tier Three: Developmental prospects who have some upside but may not be ready to contribute immediately.
Tier Four: Role players who could offer depth to the roster.
