Honorable mention and an all-time favorite

My honorable mention goes to a personal favorite, Larry McCarren.

Larry was drafted in the 12th round, with the 308th overall pick out of Illinois in 1973.

Even with McCarren, the Packers weren’t all that good, compiling a 71-99-5 record in his 12 years with the team.

He earned the nickname “Rock” after he started 162 consecutive games. McCarren played in two NFL Pro Bowls in 1982 and 1983 and was inducted in the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame in 1992.

“Rock” has been a color commentator and game analyst on the Packers Radio Network since 1995 and was named the Wisconsin Sportscaster of the Year in 1994, 1996, 2002, and 2007 by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.

This year, the Green Bay Packers announced that Larry McCarren was signed as a sports analyst for the Packers Media Group. I love all of his video reviews of training camp highlights. His sense of humor and witty insights draw me to Packers.com as part of my daily routine.
