Round 2 (via San Diego): TE Hunter Henry, Arkansas

As a result of trading down the Packers are able to get their man in Hunter Henry, filling their biggest need. Drafting for need is fine, so long as you’re getting good value. If Thompson likes Henry but doesn’t feel he’s a fit at No. 27, trading down to where value and need meet would be the way to go.

Henry could be the missing piece on offense for the Packers. Since Jermichael Finley got hurt the offense has lacked a pass-catching tight end capable of opening up the middle of the field. Henry can do exactly that.

The 6-foot-5, 250-pounder uses all of his big frame as a receiver, and he would also give the Packers an upgrade as a run blocker. There’s a lot to like about his game, especially in a thin class of tight ends.

Henry would be a great fit for the Packers, and if they can trade down out of the first round to land him it would be an excellent piece of business. Not only would the team’s greatest need be fixed, but it would also give Thompson more ammunition for the remainder of the draft.
