TE Tyler Higbee

At one stage, Tyler Higbee was a tight end I liked to the Packers in the middle rounds. The former wide receiver has the speed, route-running ability and safe hands to become a threat as a pass-catching tight end down the line. While Jared Cook offers help in the short term, Higbee could be the future at the position.

That was until Higbee was arrested and charged with second-degree assault, second-degree evading police and public intoxication, per Miranda Pederson of Bowling Green News. If you want a surefire way to get wiped off a draft board, this is it. While Higbee is set to plead not guilty for the charges, according to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, this seems like a situation to stay well clear of for the Packers.

Maybe Higbee will go undrafted, in which case he could be worth a shot, but the Packers should avoid spending one of their precious draft picks on Higbee with the off-the-field concerns here. This couldn’t have happened at a worse time for the Western Kentucky product, who looked set to be taken early on day three.
