Running backs

With a talented pool of running backs available in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Packers’ decision appears to be Lacy or a rookie. Maybe both. But there are some other options on the open market should Thompson decide he wants a veteran.

Eddie LacyLacy is the Packers’ top choice of running backs on the market, but it’ll need to be at the right value. After two seasons filled with injury and poor conditioning, his price tag plummeted. Lacy will also visit with Minnesota and Seattle.

Jamaal CharlesCharles hasn’t returned to full health since tearing his ACL in 2015, but with another offseason to get back to 100 percent, he might prove to be a free agency steal.

Adrian PetersonPeterson is only two years removed from leading the NFL in rushing yards. The 2012 league MVP turns 32 this month and averaged just 1.9 yards per carry before getting hurt in 2016. The lack of interest so far is telling, but he might be worth a flier at the right price.

LeGarrette BlountBlount piled up 18 rushing touchdowns in 2016 with the Patriots, but how he fits with another team remains to be seen. Blount is the wrong side of 30 and will need to take a cheap contract wherever he signs.
