3. Guard

Additions: Re-signed Don Barclay

Losses: T.J. Lang (Detroit), JC Tretter (Cleveland)

If the season started now, who would be the Packers’ starting right guard? Don Barclay? Lucas Patrick? They are the only two guards on the roster. Unless Mike McCarthy shifted one of his tackles inside, it’d be one of the two.

Simply put, that can’t happen. The Packers nee to find a starter, and they likely need to find one in April’s draft. That’s not easy to pull off, but Ted has done it in the past.

Rewind just three years when he selected Corey Linsley in the fifth round. Little did we know, he’d be forced to start at center when JC Tretter got hurt. Fast forward to the present day and Linsley hasn’t handed the job back.

The question is when, not if, the Packers go in for a guard. Will they make it a day one or two priority in the draft? Is there a free agent they like?

Time will tell. All we know is T.J. Lang’s departure makes the right guard spot a top priority.

Urgency: High
