1. Cornerback

Additions: Davon House

Losses: None

No position needs more work than cornerback. Bringing back Davon House helps. He’s the type of veteran presence the unit lacked last year without Sam Shields, and he’s an upgrade on what the Packers fielded.

First and foremost, the secondary needs better play from its young corners, especially Damarious Randall and Quinten Rollins. Both flashed potential as rookies, but regressed in injury-hit sophomore seasons.

Banking on them to improve is a risky game to play, and fixing the league’s No. 31-ranked pass defense starts by adding more talent at cornerback.

Maybe an unlikely swing at restricted free agent Malcolm Butler or a swoop for Richard Sherman, who the Seahawks are open to trading, according to Michael Lombardi, takes place. But let’s be realistic, neither is likely to happen.

The focus then turns to the draft. Luckily the class is rich of cornerback talent. Don’t be surprised if the Packers grab multiple corners, possibly in the first and second rounds as they did two years ago.

Urgency: Urgent
