One of the most exciting and highly-anticipated events of the Green Bay Packers and NFL offseasons is the announcement of the league-wide regular season schedule.

The schedule will be announced exclusively on NFL Network at 7 p.m. CDT Thursday night, April 20, as part of a two-hour long 2017 NFL Schedule Release special.

While the NFL will be focusing most specifically on a league-wide analysis, we here at Lombardi Ave will be focusing solely on – you guessed it – the Green Bay Packers.

As the schedule begins leaking tomorrow afternoon, we will get a better idea of what we can expect.

Where will Green Bay kick off its season? Will they be on the road or at home? When will divisional games be featured? We know there will be at least two or three of those match ups in late November and December as the league has made divisional games the staple late in the season.

When will they play the Falcons – the team that schooled them in the NFC Championship Game? When will they have to travel to play the Pittsburgh Steelers? When will they travel to Cleveland? But even more importantly, when will the Packers have to make that trip to Dallas to take on the Cowboys once again?

While the road is a bit daunting in 2017, the flip side to that is the home schedule that includes non-division games against the New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals and Seattle Seahawks.

Those games certainly aren’t cupcakes, but whenever the Packers have the chance to defend the Lambeau Field frozen tundra, you know they have a chance.

At home, fans will have the chance to see the likes of Drew Brees, Russell Wilson and Joe Flacco, but anyone attending a game at Lambeau knows they all come to see Aaron Rodgers.

As we take closer and longer look at the schedule, expect the staff here at Lombardi Ave to consider the best players who will line up against the Packers; we’ll consider the toughest games on the schedule; the ëasiest” games on the schedule and we’ll all join together to put out a post immediately after the announcement of the release of the schedule – a post that will provide instant reaction and season record predictions.
