It’s been a busy day for the Green Bay Packers. From Ted Thompson’s transition away from the general manager job to the coaching changes made on Monday, the Packers News Report has you covered.

Where do we start?

It’s been a whirlwind two days at 1265 Lombardi Ave. Ted Thompson is no longer the general manager, Dom Capers and two of his assistants have been removed from their positions. And that could just be the start.

That’s where the Packers News Report comes in. Need to catch up on what’s been going on? You’ve come to the right place.

The biggest question I had when the news broke that Thompson would be stepping down as GM was simple. Who made the decision? Was it Thompson or president Mark Murphy? According to Packers reporter Bob McGinn, the Board of Directors instructed Murphy to make the change. Incredible.

Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel also reported that “it was Murphy’s decision to start the transition”.

Today’s Packers News Report focuses on Thompson, his replacement, Capers, players who could be on the way out and more.

Here’s the answer to the question many have been asking for months. Would Dom Capers return for another season? The answer is no. After yet another season plagued with defensive issues, communication breakdowns and giving up far too many big plays, head coach Mike McCarthy has made a change.

Capers isn’t the only coach to leave Green Bay. McCarthy has also fired inside linebackers coach Scott McCurley and defensive line coach Mike Trgovac.
