Minkah Fitzpatrick, S, Alabama

Minkah Fitzpatrick might be listed as a safety, but in reality he can play just about anywhere in the secondary. That kind of versatility would give Green Bay’s defensive backfield a major upgrade. Considering the unit has lost the likes of Micah Hyde, Casey Hayward and Morgan Burnett in recent years, adding a talent like Fitzpatrick could make a big difference.

Pettine could move Fitzpatrick all over the place. A safety trio of Fitzpatrick, Josh Jones and Ha Ha Clinton-Dix would be as good as any in the NFL, but the 20-year-old’s ability to line up at cornerback would also help the Packers in so many ways.

It’s difficult to predict just where Fitzpatrick will be taken. Some view him as a top-five prospect, and for good reason. But could an early run of quarterbacks cause him to drop closer to pick 10? The likes of Saquon Barkley and Bradley Chubb will be gone before Fitzpatrick, and it’s also possible Denzel Ward and Quenton Nelson will be taken higher.

Maybe Fitzpatrick will be gone way before the Packers even get to consider trading up, but if he falls to the ninth or 10th pick, it could get interesting. Fitzpatrick has the potential to become a star in the NFL, and given just how versatile he is, his addition to the Packers’ secondary could have a huge impact.
