1. Wide receiver

The Green Bay Packers’ top position battle this summer is at wide receiver.

Ten receivers will compete for around six spots on the 53-man roster. But that’s before we factor in the two players guaranteed to make the roster: Davante Adams and Randall Cobb (assuming he’s healthy). That leaves eight receivers with four (or five at the most) positions available.

Geronimo Allison is likely to make the team. He is the frontrunner to start on the outside with Adams early in the year.

Rookies J’Mon Moore, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Equanimeous St. Brown will compete with Michael Clark, Trevor Davis, DeAngelo Yancey and Jake Kumerow for the remaining spots on the roster.

It’s going to be a fascinating battle to see who ends up making the 53-man roster. A lot could come down to special teams. That works in the favor of Davis, who has the ability to return punts and kicks.

Will the Packers keep seven receivers on the roster, or will these young pass catchers battle for just six spots? Much will depend on how many of the team’s receivers play well. They could force Mike McCarthy into keeping a seventh on the roster.
