Running backs: B+

The Packers’ trio of running backs — Ty Montgomery, Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams — played really well when given the opportunity. However, for the second week in a row, those opportunities were limited by play calling.

Aaron Jones was able to show Packer fans what they had been missing for the first two weeks. Jones is a quick, dynamic player and those attributes were on display Sunday. Jones put up 42 rushing yards, which included a 17-yard gain, while getting just six attempts. He also added another five yards from one reception.

Montgomery showed off his versatility by recording 16 rushing yards on just four carries, while also putting up an additional 48 yards on six receptions. Lastly, Williams added 29 rushing yards on five attempts and 16 yards receiving on his two receptions.

All three running backs were able to show their play-making ability and that they can be big contributors in this Packers offense. As a unit, the backs averaged 5.8 yards per carry and 7.7 yards per reception.

But of the 69 total offensive plays Green Bay ran, Jones, Montgomery and Williams touched the ball on just 24 of them. The coaching staff needs to be better about making an effort to get these backs the ball.
