2. Offensive line

Once one of the league’s top offensive lines, the Green Bay Packers need a bit of work to get back to that position. The Packers already have a three-time All-Pro left tackle and one of the best pass-protectors in all of football in David Bakhtiari. They also have an excellent starting center in Corey Linsley.

But the Packers haven’t spent many draft picks along the offensive line in recent years and it’s beginning to show. When healthy Bryan Bulaga is another great pass-protecting tackle on the right side, but the Packers need to think long-term at the position considering Bulaga’s injury history and the fact he’s entering a contract year.

The Packers may also look to find an upgrade at guard. One possible option is Rodger Saffold, who is ranked as Pro Football Focus‘ 24th-best free agent this offseason. Michael Renner of PFF wrote:

“He earned the third-best run-blocking grade among all guards in 2018 and could fit in any scheme you’ll find in the NFL.”

If Saffold isn’t re-signed by the LA Rams, there will be a lot of interest from teams looking to strengthen their offensive line. The Packers should be one of them. Head coach Matt LaFleur worked with Saffold during his time as the Rams’ offensive coordinator.
